Personal Ministry

Personal Ministry at the City of Refuge is a vital ministry dedicated to helping believers walk in the fullness of their identity and purpose through healing, deliverance, and restoration. Rooted in biblical truth and led by the Holy Spirit, Personal Ministry goes beyond surface-level struggles to deal with the root causes of bondage, bringing freedom where there was once pain, brokenness, or spiritual oppression.
This is not just about casting out demons or managing emotional wounds. It is about transformation from the inside out. Through Spirit-led sessions, individuals experience both deliverance from demonic oppression and inner healing from emotional and generational wounds so they can be restored to wholeness and live out God’s call on their lives.
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
FAQ - Personal Ministry
Deliverance, Inner Healing, and Personal Ministry: What's the Difference?
Deliverance is the removal of demonic oppression through the authority of Jesus Christ.
“In My name they will cast out demons…” (Mark 16:17)
Inner Healing addresses the emotional wounds and traumas that shape how we think and live.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
Personal Ministry brings both together, offering a Spirit-led approach to identify and break strongholds, lies, sin patterns, and spiritual roots that hinder freedom and maturity.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2)
Why We Do It: The Church’s Responsibility
We believe healing and deliverance belong to the Church, not the world. While counseling has its place, true and lasting freedom comes only through the power of Jesus Christ.
- Jesus commissioned the Church to heal and set captives free (Luke 9:1–2)
- We are called to push back the gates of hell and bind what needs to be bound (Matthew 16:18–19)
- The Church is charged to minister healing to the broken and restore them in Christ (James 5:14–15)
Personal Ministry is part of our Kingdom responsibility. We don't just want believers to be saved. We want them whole.
What to Expect from Personal Ministry
During Personal Ministry, we’ll help uncover and address:
- Hidden strongholds (Ephesians 6:12; 2 Corinthians 10:3–4)
- Generational patterns and curses (Exodus 20:5; Galatians 3:13)
- Deep emotional wounds (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18)
- Lies and false beliefs (John 8:32; Psalm 119:30)
This is a biblically grounded, Spirit-led, and compassion-driven process. It is confidential, intentional, and life changing.
How to Receive Personal Ministry
Because this is a sacred and covenant-based ministry, we have a few important requirements for those seeking to receive Personal Ministry:
1. Become a Covenant Member of the City of Refuge
Personal Ministry is available to members of our church because it involves walking in covenant, not simply joining a group. Covenant means commitment, covering, and accountability. It provides a spiritual environment where healing can take root and grow.
Becoming a member also ensures that you have access to discipline and discipleship before and after your Personal Ministry session. This is essential for helping you walk out your healing and maintain your wholeness. Without these supports, individuals may struggle unnecessarily or fall back into old patterns.
“Those who are planted in the house of the Lord will flourish…” (Psalm 92:13)
2. Contact the Personal Ministry Director
Once a member, your next step is to connect with our Personal Ministry team so we can begin walking this journey with you.
3. Watch, read, or listen to the Personal Ministry Teaching Series
We’ve created a set of videos that will equip and prepare you for your Personal Ministry session. These teachings lay the foundation for what you will experience and help you partner with the Holy Spirit in your healing process.
